Are you ready for your wild Algonquin adventure?

DAY 1: NORTHERN EDGE

Arrive at Northern Edge Algonquin lodge between 1pm and 3pm. At the Northwest Algonquin Park Access, Kawawaymog Lake, east of South River, this lodge has lakefront access to the park.

Get ready for a scrumptious welcoming dinner and spend your first night in the comfort of the nature retreat. This allows for relaxation and unwinding after your travel to Algonquin Park instead of heading right out camping into backcountry. After meeting guides and the rest of the group for your Wild Women canoe trip orientation, head down to the lake for a sublime wood-fired sauna before your snuggle into your canvas cabin.

DAY 2: CRAIG LAKE LAUNCH

You’ll be up bright and early to enjoy a hearty breakfast and put the final touches on your packing. Depending on the route that is chosen for your group, you will either depart from the lodge beachfront or take a short shuttle to the put-in point at Craig Lake. The group will have a brief canoe loading and paddling lesson, and then set off from the put in point and head into the wilderness.

Once you reach your campsite, you will work together as a team to set-up tents and the kitchen area. WWE encourages a participatory element to its canoe trips, where everyone pitches in and takes turn helping out with different camp tasks, balanced with rest and relaxation.

At your campsite, you’ll enjoy delicious evening meals cooked from scratch and after you’ve filled your belly, you can gather around the campfire with fellow trippers, share stories and laughs and absorb the magic of the flame.

Sleeping in 2-person tents on comfy Thermarests, you’ll snuggle in your cozy sleeping bag under the stars, breathing in the fresh air and falling asleep enveloped by the serenity and shelter of the forest.

DAY 3: YOURS TO DISCOVER

Today, your guides will help the group orchestrate the best day possible balancing individual desires with group needs. Whether it’s going for a short hike or further exploring the area by canoe, spending meditative time at a waterfall, or frolicking on a beach, the day is yours to discover. This may also be the day to hone your canoe tripping skills, like how to read maps, use a compass, tie knots, start a fire, and spot signs of wildlife.

DAY 4: HOMEBOUND

On the last day, you’ll paddle back to the take out, and once you are back at the nature retreat, your guide will fetch your keys and your vehicle will be waiting for you right where you left it in the private parking lot.  After a homemade snack, grab your “going home clothes” and enjoy a wood-fired sauna and cleansing shower before packing up your car and heading on your way reliving your memories of Algonquin Park all the way home!
