Day 1 - kauai

Day One: Getting Cozy in Paradise

Meet your fellow Wild Women at the Lihue, Kauai airport at 5:00pm and travel an hour to the North Shore. Enjoy a welcome seafood dinner and adventure orientation upon arriving at your home away from home.

To keep you immersed in the local island life community, you will be staying in a charming private house with a lovely garden!

Your home will be stocked with fresh fruits and local foods so the group can prepare breakfasts together. Most dinners will be catered at home and some lunches will be provided while you are off on daily adventures. You will also have the chance to sample local restaurants and cafes on the North Shore. Kauai is blessed with some of the freshest ingredients around, including seafood, local meats and organically and locally grown fruits and vegetables. Sit back and enjoy the flavours of Kauai coming to life; maybe over a cup of locally grown coffee or a fresh fruit smoothie with oranges from the trees in your backyard.

day 2 - hiking kauai

Day Two: Hiking and Stand Up Paddling in Hanelai

After breakfast, take a short hike in the hills overlooking a valley peppered with lush taro fields and 2 miles of crescent white sand beach along Hanalei Bay.

After lunch you will take part in a Stand Up Paddling lesson on the Hanalei River. Your Wild Women adventure guide Ann Hettinger, longtime resident of Kauai, is a world class Stand Up Paddler – there is even a film being made about her SUP adventures in Hawaii!

In the evening you will go to town for a dinner at a local Hanalei restaurant and stroll along the beach to watch the sunset over the Napali coast mountains.

Day 3 - kauai multi july

Day Three: Surfing in Hanelai Bay

Spend your morning surfing during a private lesson for your group. Don’t be surprised to see your Wild Women sisters riding waves by the end of the day! The sandy bottomed bay is perfect for learning to surf – and if you would rather boogie board, you can do that instead. The important thing is to enjoy the ocean and have fun!

In the afternoon you will visit the ‘Queen’s Bath’ Tide Pools, one of the most unique and refreshing swimming areas on the island. The pool is carved into a lava shelf and is the size of several large swimming pools. Your evening will feature a dinner buffet of locally catered Balinese cuisine.

day 4 - kauai multi july

Day Four: Kayaking Na Pali Coast

National Geographic calls Na Pali’s 27 kms of cliffs, caves, and beaches, “the most stunning paddling trip in the country, if not the world”. This paddle adventure traverses the spectacular Northwest coast of Kauai. You’ll paddle at the base of 4,000 ft cliffs, explore sea caves and cascading waterfalls, and take in incredible views of the majestic Kalalau and Honopu valleys. Your guides have many years of experience and will share their vast knowledge of oceana, Hawaiian history, flora, fauna & sea life. This is a 10 hour kayak trip, so it’s important you have some kayaking experience, and are prepared for a (very rewarding) challenge!

Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for endangered Hawaiian monk seals, spinner dolphins and mountain goats scaling the cliff side. Tonight, you will have a special catered dinner of traditional Balinese cuisine.

Day 5 - limahuli july multi

Day Five: Botanical Gardens and Beaches

Start your day with a tour of Limahuli National Botanical Gardens and Preserve. Set in a verdant tropical valley, the Garden is backdropped by the majestic Makana Mountain and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. In Hawaiian, the name Limahuli means “turning hands,” which recognizes the ancient Hawaiians who built agricultural terraces out of lava rock and planted cultivars of kalo, an important cultural food crop. You will spend the afternoon beach-hopping, exploring Lumahai beach, the famous site of the film “South Pacific” and then Kauapea Beach, popularly known as “Secret Beach”, as well as Tunnels Beach, a surf hotspot.

In the evening, head out for a feast at the infamous “Tahiti Nui” and see a traditional luau for a fun evening of entertainment in town.

Day Six: Na Pali Coast Hike

Spend the day hiking the Kalalau trail, the only land access to this part of the rugged coast. The trail traverses 5 valleys before ending at Kalalau Beach where it is blocked by sheer fluted pali. The trail is graded but almost never level as it crosses above towering sea cliffs and through lush valleys. The trail drops to sea level at Hanakapi’ai beach. You will hike to the beautiful 300-foot Hanakapi’ai Falls to reward yourselves. Later in the afternoon you will have time to snorkel or beachcomb on Ke’e beach before heading to home base for a massage.

You will have a free evening to explore the village of Hanelai Bay on your own, shop in the many boutiques or chill out on the beach and maybe pick up some fish tacos or a burrito for dinner and a MaiTai at a local hotspot to watch island life roll by.

day 7 - outrigger canoe

Day Seven: Outrigger Canoeing

Enjoy an afternoon lesson in traditional Hawaiian Outrigger Canoeing on the Hanalei River. Your guide Ann is an outrigger canoe racer so you will learn about the history of outrigger. You won’t be in any hurry though as you paddle the smooth and scenic Hanelai River, passing sea turtles along the way.

You will return to home and be treated to a massage. That evening, you will take an evening zodiac ride along the the Na Pali coast with a final sushi dinner on the beach.

day 8 - kauai

Day Eight: Aloha Kauai

After breakfast, you will spend the morning enjoying Hanelai Bay, grabbing a smoothie for a stroll on the beach. Then you will visit the local farmer’s market to see the showcase of local artisans wares and pick up some final souvenirs before returning to the Lihue airport by noon for afternoon departures.
