Women and Girls Canoe Trip

About the Experience

The French River is stunning, classic Canadian Shield Scenery.  With smooth granite shorelines, speckled with windswept white pine, this canoe route of national historic significance is the first designated Canadian Heritage River.

Celebrate Canada’s 150th by paddling the traditional route of First Nations, French Explorers and Voyageurs – a river that served as a Canadian ‘highway’ for centuries – and experience for yourself first hand the beautiful French River Provincial Park.

Many believe there is no better way to bond with someone than on an adventure in the heart of nature. We have designed this trip so that mums, aunts, big sisters, grandma and their favourite girls (age 8-12 years) have an incredible, low-stress, playful adventure together! The trip is modest in length, isn’t too difficult and promises to be loads of fun!

Day One: Arrive at Pine Cove Lodge

Arrive by 10am at your Trip Rendezvous: The Lodge at Pine Cove near Noelville, Ontario. Meet your sister canoe trippers and WWE guides for a brief and fun trip orientation to wilderness camping and canoe tripping Wild Women style. Get to know who you’ll be adventuring with, ask your questions and then your guides will help you amalgamate your clothing and gear with group gear in your ample canoe packs.  (Please note overnight vehicle parking at the lodge is $8.00/day).

After a brief canoe loading and paddling lesson, you and your group set off from the put in point and head out onto beautiful Wolseley Bay.  As you paddle towards the French River Provincial Park, sheltered islands and bays will appear as the cottages will disappear.

En route you may find a welcoming spot to catch some rest, a swim or perhaps some shade and down a healthy fresh lunch before setting off again in canoes to your first island campsite.  Set up your tents, gather firewood, and enjoy a swim or explore the area before dinner: a feast cooked over a camp stove.  The signature call of loons and the endless starry sky are sure to soothe and awe.

Day Two: Create your own adventure

Now that you are into the canoe-tripping groove, this is a perfect day to rejuvenate in nature and let the day unfold magically. Enjoy a hearty campsite breakfast and then decide what to do as a group.  It may include heading over to the popular Little Pine Rapids for a swim and picnic or heading up to the beautiful waterfalls at Five Finger Rapids for a short hike, picnic and swim.  Your guides will help the group orchestrate the best day possible balancing individual desires with group needs.

Day Three: Homebound

Get an early start, break camp after breakfast and paddle out back towards the Lodge at Pine Cove, getting off the water early afternoon, refreshed, and revitalized from the fresh air and good times. Departure home is around 2pm.
