I live on the island of Kauai and have been guiding for Wild Women Expeditions for the past 4 years.  I’ve had the pleasure of sharing our beautiful island and all it has to offer with women of all ages and abilities during the WWE week-long Multi-Sport and Yoga retreats.
I’ve been guiding and coaching adults and kids for about the past 20 years.  I’m  a competitive runner, stand up paddler, outrigger canoe paddler and surfer. But I haven’t always lived a high energy life.  Until I was 35, I was a two-pack-a-day smoker, never exercising beyond cleaning the house, working and raising a family in landlocked Colorado. One day my daughter came home and said Mom if you don’t quite smoking you’re going to die.  It was a huge reality check and was the catalyst that I needed to quit and start a whole new life.  When I quit, I decided to join a gym and started running on their indoor running track and I remember the first time I finished a mile;  I felt as though I had won the Olympic Gold.  It turned out I was a good runner and decided to get a coach and started competing in 5K’s, 10K’s, half-marathons and marathons.  Five years into my training and quitting smoking, I was the 9th woman finisher at the Maui Marathon.  My life had done a complete 180.  Then a few years later I moved to Kauai and fell in love with the Ocean and all it has to offer, competing in some of the most prestigious ocean races for SUP and Outrigger Canoe Racing.
I know what sports and a healthy lifestyle has done for me which is why I am so passionate about sharing it with women.  I truly believe that it is never too late to change your life, and personal growth and happiness are achieved by living each day moment by moment and truly appreciating all that life has to offer. There is nothing more rewarding than helping someone experience their own sense of accomplishment.
