Fífa Ketilsdóttir

Hæ hæ! I’m Fífa, a 38-year-old from Ísafjörður, and I’ve been a tour guide for the past 4 years. I started as a trekking guide, but also guide all over Iceland, as well as hiking glaciers.

Before my life as a tour guide, I’ve had a pretty varied career. I studied carpentry, worked as a journalist, studied cultural communication and literature. I love learning and am always reading, exploring and discovering new things.

I currently live in Reykjavík but, as a born and raised rural Icelander, I try and hike as much as possible. I spend my summers backpacking through the highlands or Hornstrandir in the northwest. In the winter I also try to get on all the treks possible (when Icelandic weather allows!). Þórsmörk is my favourite (pictured).

In my spare time, I love to travel all over the world. Highlights include a road trip to the US, a trip to Iran, southeast Asia and Greece. My most recent trip was a 30 day trip through Northern Spain called the Camino de Santiago, which I thoroughly enjoyed (though 800km was punishing on the old feet!).

But don’t worry, I’m not some sort of fitness fanatic! Though I love adventure, you can often find me hanging out on my sofa, eating popcorn, crocheting and watching Dirk Gently or Ru Paul’s Drag Race on Netflix. Or you can find me in the local geothermal pools, I love a good soak!
