Annapurna Himalayan Haven Trek

About the Experience

Pioneer new routes away from the busy teahouse trails and experience some of the best hiking in the Annapurnas! The Pokhara Valley has panoramic views of Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail) and the Annapurna massif. The picturesque Gurung villages set among beautiful rhododendron forested hills and ridgelines provide stunning vantage points for views of the highest peaks.

The Annapurna Himal is a vast massif with several peaks above 7000m. Part of the range forms a natural amphitheatre known as the Annapurna Sanctuary, ringed by such giants as Annapurna 1, Glacier Dome, Gangapurna, Fang, and Machhapuchhare.

We’ll trek through forested hillsides to Ghorepani where we ascend Poon Hill for an awe-inspiring sunrise on the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri. The scenery that lies before you at Muldai View Point is mind-boggling. Watching the sunrise from this viewpoint might just take your breath away, at 3647m and with its 360-degree view of the Himalayas and surrounding valley. It is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this trek!

Trails leading to Dobato take you through lush green forests where, if you’re lucky, you may come across langur monkeys swinging from the treetops. As you climb above the tree line you may find herds of yaks grazing in the sun.

Descending once again will take us to the local Village of the Gurung family where we will be able to experience their culture and customs. We will make our way into a narrow valley where we pass directly below Machhapuchhare before eventually reaching the Annapurna Sanctuary, a veritable home of the Gods. From Annapurna Base Camp we will have an afternoon to explore and relax in this magnificent place with an opportunity to witness another Himalayan sunrise. Returning to the valley our final night will be spent at Kot Danda, our own “Little Paradise”.

This is a moderately strenuous alpine trek from 900m to 4,200m, offering close-up mountain views and a glimpse of authentic Nepali culture. Accommodation will be in comfortable lodges run by local families. We will carry daypacks and walk at our own pace.
