Where Ice Meets Ocean And Women Meet Wonder
Sailing from Iceland’s volcanic shores to Greenland’s glacier-carved coastlines, our new East Greenland: Stories of Ice and Light journey is a small ship expedition designed for women who crave both adventure and reflection. Crossing the Arctic Circle, you’ll experience some of the most breathtaking and untouched landscapes on Earth— where cliffs and coastlines are shaped by sea and silence. This is a voyage that reconnects you with the wild, with wonder, and with yourself.
Crossing the Denmark Strait, we reach East Greenland and the vast fjords of Kangertittivaq, a world of granite peaks and drifting ice best explored by Zodiac. Days unfold slowly, filled with guided hikes, quiet reflection, and moments of connection led by Inuit cultural interpreters who share stories that bridge generations.
Between Fire and Ice: An Arctic Journey
From Volcanic Cliffs To Ancient Ruins
In Ittoqqortoormiit, one of Greenland’s most remote communities, we glimpse a life deeply tied to land, sea, and season. Southward, the soaring peaks and shifting light of Ikerasassuaq offer a moving display of nature’s power—glaciers calving, currents surging, mountains changing hue by the hour. At Qaqortukulooq, among ancient Norse ruins, stone and story endure side by side in Greenland’s southern fjords.
The voyage concludes in Nuuk, Greenland’s vibrant capital, where contemporary Inuit art, language, and culture thrive at the edge of the Arctic.
This is not just any Greenland Small Ship Expedition—it’s a journey designed for women who feel most alive when the horizon keeps expanding.

Day 1
Reykjavík, Iceland
Your Adventure Begins
Your East Greenland: Stories of Ice and Light small ship expedition begins!
Reykjavík rises from a landscape of steam and salt—with the the hum of geothermal heat beneath your feet. Colourful homes spill across old lava fields, and creativity runs like a current through the city’s heart. This is a place where ancient sagas and modern stories coexist—told in art galleries, cafés, and song. Before we set sail, wander the harbourfront or step into the National Culture House, where the Poetic Edda and Norse sagas whisper of explorers who once looked north, just as we do now. As evening falls, light shimmers across Faxaflói Bay and the ship begins its slow turn toward the horizon—past the quiet cliffs of the Westfjords, bound for Greenland’s wild coast.
The journey has begun, and already the world feels wider.

Day 2
The Westfjords
Explore Coastal Wilderness
In Iceland’s far northwest, mountains meet the sea in long, quiet folds. The air smells faintly of salt and seaweed, and the wind moves easily through the grass. Puffins and guillemots circle the basalt cliffs, their calls carried on the breeze.
We travel the coast by Zodiac and on foot, stopping where tide pools catch the light and the horizon feels close enough to touch. The Westfjords have a way of slowing time—inviting stillness, reflection, and a deeper kind of listening.
As the day ends and the ship turns west, the cliffs fade into low cloud. The open sea lies ahead, steady and full of promise.

Day 3
At Sea
Crossing the Denmark Strait
Today is a day for both inner and outer horizons! The ship moves steadily across the Denmark Strait, and the Atlantic deepens to shades of cobalt and steel. Fulmars trace the wind behind us, their wings skimming the waves in rhythm.
Inside, the day unfolds at an easy pace—conversation over coffee, an engaging presentation in the lounge, maybe a hands-on workshop with your wild women expedition team. Or you might step outside to the deck, drawn by the sound of the sea and the vast sweep of sky.
There’s space here to learn, to rest, to let the motion of the ship set a slower rhythm. Late in the day, the first icebergs appear on the horizon—sculpted, and impossibly bright against the blue (it’s amazing). Greenland lies ahead…

Days 4-6
Kangertittivaq (Scoresby Sound), Greenland
Into the Fjords of East Greenland
Kangertittivaq—also known as Scoresby Sound—is a labyrinth of fjords, islands, and drifting ice that reaches deep into East Greenland’s wild heart. Mountains rise steeply from still water, glaciers move with a quiet persistence, and the light never stays the same—silver, blue, shadow, glow.
We spend the day exploring by Zodiac and on foot, weaving through this seldom-visited world. Each landing offers something new: saxifrage blooming bright against stone, the distant movement of muskox on the slopes, the soft crack of ice echoing across the water.
Along the shore, traces of ancient Inuit camps reveal the deep continuity between people and place. Our Inuit cultural interpreters bring these histories forward, sharing stories of ice, animal, and season that turn the landscape into a living map—one guided by memory and respect.
Evening settles slowly. Icebergs drift by like carved light, and the midnight sun paints the water in hues of gold and blue. Tomorrow, we sail toward Ittoqqortoormiit—a northern community where the stories of land and sea continue to meet.

Day 7
Ittoqqortoormiit
Life at the Edge of the Ice
At the mouth of Kangertittivaq lies Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the world’s northernmost communities—brightly painted homes set against a backdrop of sea, ice, and tundra. Daily life follows the rhythm of the Arctic seasons: hunting, fishing, gathering, and adapting to the ever-changing light and weather.
Here, the local economy moves with nature’s pulse—seal, narwhal, and muskox hunting; fishing for Arctic char; and creating art and crafts from soapstone, sealskin, and narwhal tusk. Many also work in guiding, education, and public service, weaving traditional knowledge with modern life. Small-scale tourism adds new exchanges, yet the heart of the community remains deeply connected to land and sea.
Visitors are welcomed ashore by local hosts who share stories of their home, their heritage, and the ways they continue to thrive in this northern environment.
As evening returns, our Greenland Small Ship Expedition sails south along Greenland’s rugged eastern coast.

Days 8-9
Eastern Greenland
Where Ice Moves and Light Shifts
As we travel farther south on our East Greenland: Stories of Ice small ship expedition, we sail along Greenland’s eastern coast, and the landscape grows wilder and more intricate. Mountains lean toward the sea, glaciers split and tumble, and icebergs turn slowly in calm fjords shaded in steel and turquoise.
Zodiac excursions bring us close to the cliffs, where ice and stone meet. When conditions allow, we step ashore to feel the tundra beneath our boots and take in the hush of this immense place.
As evening falls, the ship turns once more toward open water, tracing a route south into deeper blue.

Day 10
At Sea
The Rhythm of the Sea
As we continue south, the rhythm of the sea sets the tone—full of quiet wonder. The fjords widen into open water, and the coastline drifts by in shifting hues of ice, rock, and mist. Out on deck, women gather to trace the slow dance of icebergs, to watch seabirds follow the wind, and to feel the pulse of the North in every rolling swell.
Inside, the atmosphere is warm and easy. Our Wild Women expedition team might share stories of Greenland’s geology, wildlife, or Inuit heritage, while others write, read, or share conversation over coffee. There’ll be laughter on deck, and time to simply be—resting in that rare balance of movement and stillness.

Day 11
Ikerasassuaq (Prince Christian Sound)
Where Seas and Stories Meet
Today we sail through Ikerasassuaq—one of the world’s most dramatic waterways—where jagged peaks of gneiss and granite rise in wild, serrated lines, streaked with waterfalls and ice. It’s a place that feels alive in every sense, where the Irminger and Labrador Seas meet and the elements seem to hold conversation.
This is the time to be on deck. Watch the light shift with each turn of the fjord; see icebergs drift and crack, their echoes carrying through the still air. Fog curls between cliffs, sunlight slips across mountainsides, and every moment feels both fleeting and eternal.
By late day, the ship moves toward Uummannarsuaq—the islands of the Cape Farewell Archipelago—marking Greenland’s southern edge. Ahead, the landscape begins to soften. South Greenland opens before us, lush and welcoming after days of stone, ice, and sky. It kind of feels like an exhale—a passage that humbles, restores, and reminds us how alive the world can be.

Day 12
Uunartoq & Qaqortukulooq (Hvalsey)
Stones That Remember
As we continue on our Greenland Small Ship Expedition, we arrive at Uunartoq, where hot springs rise beside a cold bay—a meeting of opposites that feels almost ceremonial. Steam drifts over still water, and the land exhales warmth into the Arctic air.
Nearby lie the ruins of Qaqortukulooq (Hvalsey), once a thriving Norse farmstead. Its stone church still stands, solid and graceful after more than six centuries. The last written record from the colony tells of a wedding held here in 1408—the final trace of Norse life in Greenland.
Now, only wind and birds move through the valley. Moss softens the stones, and history feels close enough to touch. As we sail westward, the land grows greener, the air gentler. The North Atlantic Current warms these southern shores—the same region where Erik the Red built his settlements and, legend says, named this island Greenland.
Whether for promise or persuasion, it feels fitting; this is a place where the Arctic shows its softer side.

Day 13
Sermersooq
Coastal Cruising and Wildlife
Sermersooq—“the place of many glaciers”—opens here into deep valleys, bright tundra, and fjords edged with wildflowers that bloom briefly under the Arctic sun. The coastline feels alive with movement and sound: the call of white-tailed eagles above, the sweep of gulls along the cliffs, and, every so often, the soft exhale of a minke or humpback whale just beyond the bow.
We trace this intricate shoreline letting the rhythm of the sea set the pace. Waterfalls spill from the highlands, light glances off the ice, and the air carries that unmistakable mix of salt and bloom. It’s the kind of day that invites quiet reflection—each moment a reminder of how vast and vibrant the Arctic truly is.
Beyond these fjords, our final harbour awaits, marking not an ending but a gentle return—to community, to connection, and to the shared stories that brought us here.

Nuuk, Greenland
Cultural Heart of the North
Our East Greenland: Stories of Ice small ship voyage ends in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital—a city alive with art, language, and everyday life. On the waterfront, fishing boats, families, and sea ice share the same horizon.
Nuuk feels both timeless and forward-looking—a community rooted in tradition and alive with new ideas.
As departure approaches, the northern light lingers, carrying the sense that the story continues—and that, in some quiet way, you are now part of it.
