Cambodia Angkor Wat Two Tile

The Secret Side of Siem Reap

Angkor Wat is synonymous with Cambodia’s northern province of Siem Reap. The massive archaeological site of ancient urban planning includes temples, canals, basins and distinct Khmer architecture. It’s in the shadows of civilization that the beauty of Siem Reap extends into generational recipes, elephant and bird sanctuaries; jade rice terraces and a traditional Cambodian art studio. We learn about the Khmer’s tight connection to the land through Hindu mythological carvings, a hyperlocal lunch at a floating restaurant and the clever, entrepreneurial use of water hyacinths to create handicrafts.

Savor the Bold Flavors

This signature Wild at Heart journey includes an interactive Khmer cooking class, pastry demonstration, a street food tour and night market visit guaranteed to stretch your taste buds! We also visit the retired elephants of Kulen Elephant Forest and cruise the freshwater expanse of Tonle Sap Lake to see the Prek Toal Bird Sanctuary. At the Angkor Centre for Conservation and Biodiversity, we learn about the rehabilitation and rewilding process for native wildlife species that land in their care. And yes, we see the sunrise over the otherworldly Angkor Wat. Expect pampered stays at the eco-chic Navutu Dreams Resort and Wellness Retreat and community-conscious Jaya House River Park too.
