Where Serenity Meets the Sacred

The Haida Nation has been here since the end of the last Ice Age — and when you sail these waters, you feel it. In the poles still standing in the villages. In the stories the Watchmen tell you at the shoreline. In the land itself.

Off British Columbia’s remote northwest coast, this archipelago of over 200 islands is one of the most ecologically and culturally significant places on Earth. Ancient rainforests shelter rare species and healing plants found nowhere else. Towering Sitka spruce rise above the weathered remains of Haida villages that have stood for centuries. And through it all, the ocean — wild, patient, and deeply alive.

Explore “Canada’s Galápagos”

Haida Gwaii Sailing Adventure

The Heart of Haida Gwaii

The biodiversity here is so extraordinary that scientists have dubbed it Canada’s Galápagos — black bears wander beaches at low tide, sea otters float in kelp forests, and the intertidal zones are so rich with life they feel like another world entirely. This wild abundance has been stewarded by the Haida Nation since the very beginning.

Protected by Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site, and home to over 500 sacred sites, these islands hold a kind of stillness that asks something of you. To slow down. To pay attention. To arrive as a guest.

This is a journey into one of the world’s last truly wild places — where every coastline, carving, and quiet inlet has a story that predates almost everything you’ve ever known.

The Ship & Cabins

The Island Roamer

The Island Roamer is a custom 68-foot ketch launched in 1983. The boat’s design, safety, and comfort make her perfect for these trips.

She features six private guest cabins (double occupancy), two crew cabins forward, three heads with hot showers, a large and comfortable lounge with an extensive library, and a well-equipped galley. On deck, the large covered seating area protects all types of weather. The Island Roamer is large enough for comfort, privacy and safety, and small enough to create a good rapport among passengers and crew.

A certified Canadian Ministry of Transport passenger vessel, Island Roamer has all of the safety equipment, electronic navigation aids, and features you would expect from a vessel of her standard.

All of our cabins have adequate storage space for your bags, personal items and jackets. Coat hangers and life jackets are stowed in every cabin for your convenience. There is electricity in each room, so you can charge your camera batteries and enjoy a reading light as you relax in the evening.
