Lorraine McCall
Lorraine has been exploring Scotland through backpacking, mountaineering sailing, and sea kayaking for the last 20 years with a growing interest in cycle touring and hill running. Her interests have always been interwoven with her work and jobs have included: 4 years working on board an old Gaff Rigged Schooner (or pirate ship!). Our sailing ground was mainly the west coast of Scotland and the Hebrides but also included journeys to Orkney, Shetland, Norway, and Iceland; Running Wilderness Therapy Courses based in Applecross in the North West Highlands but involved working with groups on multi-day camping trips throughout the Highlands: Working as a trekking guide throughout Scotland but with the odd foray abroad to Africa, China and the Himalaya.
Lorraine celebrated her 40th birthday by doing a continuous journey of all the Munros walking in between and sea kayaking to the islands. The journey took just over four months and was the most sensual experience, learning to live completely in the present. This was followed up 10 years later by a much harder expedition to complete all the Corbetts on a continual journey, this time involving walking, cycling, and sailing to the islands.
Lorraine loves introducing people to the mountain environment and watching people’s confidence and sense of wonder grow as they begin to realise what they are capable of.
