Day 2
Golden Circle of Iceland
Golden Circle Wonders
Wake up to your first Icelandic breakfast before setting off on the legendary Golden Circle route. This iconic day trip is Iceland’s ultimate highlight reel, weaving together thundering waterfalls, powerful geysers, and landscapes steeped in history. We’ll start by visiting Þingvellir National Park where you’ll walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.
This afternoon, we slow down at the Fontana Spa, one of Iceland’s most beloved wellness stops. Picture steaming mineral baths by a serene lake, saunas built over bubbling hot springs, and the chance to dip between warm pools and crisp northern air. The spa is all about balance: relaxation meets raw Icelandic nature.
Then it’s time to taste Iceland. Roll up your sleeves for a hands-on rye bread baking class, where we learn the traditional method of slow-baking bread in the geothermal earth. We’ll enjoy the warm, slightly sweet bread fresh out of the ground, served alongside a hearty lunch.
The earth comes alive at the Geysir geothermal area, where bubbling mud pools and Strokkur’s dramatic eruptions remind you that fire is still breathing beneath your feet. And then there’s Gullfoss waterfall, “the Golden Falls,” cascading into a canyon so fierce and beautiful it stops you in your tracks. It’s the kind of day that leaves you awestruck, camera in hand, and whispering to yourself: is this even real life?
By late afternoon, we journey deeper into the wilderness to arrive at Highland Base at Kerlingarfjöll. Tucked in the heart of the highlands, this deluxe lodge is your sanctuary between adventures.
